This is the surname of Wiktor Narkiewicz (sometimes Viktor), he was a well-known Polish engine designer and Director of Design for AVIA factories before WWII.

-During the war he was in England involved in the design of British engines.

-In Poland he went through IL, OKL y WSK.

-Just after the war he created its own engines, starting with the WN-1 that was manufactured by OKL initials of the Osrodek Konstrukcji Lotniczy, an aeronautical material factory founded around 1957 in Okecie next to Warsaw.

-He led the teams that designed the WN-1, WN-3, WN-5, WN-6 with its variants, as well as the WN-7 and -7R engines.

-A horizontally-opposed 2-cylinder and the NP-1 with four cylinders, horizontally-opposed as well.

-The WN-1 was a horizontally-opposed four cylinder, known as PZL-65KM, giving 58/65 CV.

-Interestingly, it was made in 1947 and offered again in the early 1960's by OKL. See more information about these engines on WN and Wiktor Narkiewicz.

-Below we can present the interesting WN-3, a 7 cylinder radial.

-It gave 300/340 hp at 2,500 rpm, and was from 1954. The following year and with reduction gear it reached 450 hp and was then called WN-5 but this one was unsuccessful and did not even go into production.

-The WN-6 had six horizontally-opposed cylinders, and the -6R was the geared version with a maximum power of 220 CV at 3,500 rpm of the crankshaft. The -6S version was a -6R with supercharger to fit on helicopters and other installations.

-That same engine with four cylinders instead of six was the WN-7 that gave 125 CV.. The geared version was the -7R that delivered 145 CV.

-Wiktor Narkiewicz prepared a study for a 1000 shp turboprop and a turbojet for aircraft in development at the time.
