-The cylinders act like the Junkers Jumo but the intake and exhaust ports are repeated on both sides of the BDC, as it is the two-stroke cycle and Diesel.

-More information on this engine at the Nasm with the reference Doc. (BM-500000-01).

-One of the first Michell (Anthony George Maldon Michell) engines built by the Crankless Engine Co, Melbourne, Australia.

-It had eight cylinders 4 and 4 opposes giving 750 HP. These engines were from the years 1910 to 1920. A stationary version that would give way to the aeronautical version.

From Appendix 6: Of the barrel (or revolver) type engine, sometimes also called “crankless”, we now have an outline of the inner layout that as we will see has had a new reissue in the DynaCam.

-Illustration obtained via AEHS. The engines are known as Michell Crankless.

-Now we have obtained information that this Australian engine, perhaps, was built under license since its origins are in the UK.

-The inscription reads: "The National Gas Michell Crankless, Ashton-under-Lyme, England."

-From the year 1927 it is said to have 8 cylinders and 4 pistons (?), Giving 300 HP. An aeronautical application is not known. Its construction is made of iron, heavy therefore, but the principle does have many aviation examples.
