Gwynnes is from London, and initially manufactured the French Clerget engines (from Clerget-Blin et Cie.), Modifying and refining them, in their factories in Hammersmith and Chiswick.

“Gwynnes, 7Z”

-The manufacturing license rights covered the entire British Empire (we are talking about WWI).

-The 7Z was a low power, 80 HP, seven-cylinder rotary, but it gave an excellent service in the first moments.

“Gwynnes, 9Z”

-The 9Z 9-cylinder engine, already with 110 hp, was also rotary.

-The EB 11-cylinder Clerget engine was also made by Gwynnes. It delivered 200 hp.

“Gwynnes, 11-cylinder”

-Within the war effort, they collaborated in the construction of the Bentley BR2. For example, a BR2 from Gwynnes was installed on the Handley Page S1.

-Gwynnes made the Clerget engines under license like the one advertised in the press at the time giving credit to the original French company. Models were offered between 80 and 100 HP.

-The engine, designed by Bentley Rotary, based on the French Clerget, was also built by Gwynnes Ltd, in the WWI effort.

-Being a rotary radial, its appearance does not seem like it, because it has all the accessories of a fixed radial.
