This is an engine that showed that the Germans around 1910 were working with equal zeal to achieve aeroengines (sic).
-Apart from upright cylinder engines for airships, Schneeweiss built engines with 2 and 4 horizontal cylinders for airplanes.
“Schneeweiss, 2 cylinder boxer”
-The arrangement of the valves, controls, camshaft and their movement is already identical to engines from more than half a century later.
-Above the intake valve of each cylinder is a floatless carburetor.
-The figure shows the curious method of lubricating the cylinders.
-The three types built with horizontal cylinders, around 1910, were:
-1st type, 10 HP with two cylinders of 90 mm bore by 100 mm piston stroke.
-2nd type, 20 HP, with two cylinders of 125 mm bore by 120 mm stroke.
-3rd type, 45 HP with four cylinders of 125 mm bore by 125 mm piston stroke.
From Appendix 9: As stated in the main text, apart from the boxer engines, upright, inline cylinder engines were also made.
-They had valves on the cylinder head just like today's engines have. (Schneeweiss system).
“The Schneeweiss system applied by NAG”
-We have a complete plan of the 20 HP two-cylinder boxer engine, with three views.
“Schneeweiss boxer”
-Complete plan with more views of the boxer engine of this brand.
-A curiosity: The same engine that appears in the main text has an image taken from an old French book with a camera around the beginning of the 1960s.
-At that time there were no photocopiers or current scanners. For this reason, there are shadows due to the lack of experience of the author (myself, RMV) and that he also proceeded to develop it with his own means.
-The previous one belongs to a German book from 1910.
From Appendix 12: We have a new illustration of the inline 4-cylinder engine.
