G.C. Richard was a well-known general aviation engine design theorist who based his inventions on the adaptation of parts, cylinders, etc., from existing engines such as the Villiers, Ydral, etc.
-These unusual concepts are not known to have gone beyond paper.
-However, the ideas and solutions could be considered brilliant and original.
-They were published several times in magazines of its industry.
-The first one that we could deal with, would be the one with two motors joined by their crankcases, in a horizontally opposed position united by the gear for the propeller.
“A Richard project”
-Below we show another engine also emerged from the union of two motorcycle engines, but by their heads, with a common cylinder head.
“Another Richard Project”
-Perhaps the most original was the third engine that we show here.
“Richard project, outlined”
-It is not difficult to understand the mechanism, because the movement of the connecting rods, apart from rocking, is circular.
-The cylinder is the same for both pistons.
-The common combustion chamber is Junkers style.
-In the next version the rotating pistons, inclined discs and complicated bevel gears are eliminated.
“Another Richard Project”
-This last project was known as “Moteur Monocylindre Rotatif a Pistons Luvoyants”.
