The collaboration between Rateau and Renault goes back a long way.

-Therefore it is normal that after the founding of Snecma, at the end of WWII, both companies added their experiences.

-Rateau had its projects since 1939 due to the Rateau/Anxionnaz tandem (see). Later came the SR realizations.

-With Snecma they were in an engine project with a double compressor: one centrifugal and the other axial in chain, the typical Rateau combustion chambers, and the turbines were double.

-Later other free turbines had the characteristic of carrying a fan on their periphery like the General Electric (see) and Metrovick (see). Although in this case of Rateau-Snecma they do not seem contra-rotating.
