Powerplant Developments makes Diesel engines planned to replace other AVGAS gasoline engines in the 100 HP range, such as the Powerplant Developments Gemini 100 model, smaller than its Continental O-200 equivalent.

-100 BHP power is achieved at 2,500 rpm with 16,00 cc. It has opposed pistons, so with three cylinders there are 6 pistons and two crankshafts at the “outer” ends of the engine. See Junkers.

-It works with the two-stroke cycle. Both crankshafts are interconnected and are in one piece, forged of very high quality materials such as EN40 used in Formula 1, in which they rotate at 19,000 rpm.

-The engine is very compact. It uses automotive Diesel fuel and Jet A-1.

-In collaboration with associated company Weslake, powers of up to 600 HP will be developed. The most immediate project is the Gemini 125 with 125 HP.

-Power Plant Developments is also known as PPD. For this engine, in addition to Weslake, it also works together with Jade Air for its development.

-The Gemini 100 displaces 1.6 liters. and at 75% of its power it consumes about 18 liters of Jet A-1 fuel.

-The TBO that is expected to be obtained is 2,000 Hrs and testing will start in October 2008.

-The PPD brand has increased the range with new powers. The main feature is that it uses the Junkers principle.

-The Gemini 100 gives 100 HP with three cylinders and six pistons.

-The Gemini 125, Gemini 200, Gemini 275 and Gemini 360 have appeared, all of them with three cylinders and six pistons.

-The Gemini 450 Turbo has five cylinders with ten pistons, and the Gemini 550 has 6 cylinders with 12 pistons.
