Normalair-Garrett Ltd., incorporates Weslake Aeromarine Engines Ltd and Emdair in its propulsion Division. The former with its 2-stroke engines and the latter with its 4-stroke engines.

-It produced engines for RPV’s and ultralight, being the “C” versions for civilians and “M” for the military.

-They were known as NGL - “WAEL”, (from Weslake Aeromarine Engines Ltd.) and also as WAM when it was acquired by the Westland Aircraft Group in 1979.

-For example, the same engine before was WAEL-342 and then WAM-342. This was a 2-stroke, horizontally-opposed twin-cylinder that gave 25 HP at 7,000 rpm. The well-known Schnürle intake valve was already incorporated into the design.

-It could be started by hand or with an electric starter.

-The line of Weslake engines that were built by NGL start with Type 060, a twin-cylinder that gave 5 hp and was made in the years 1978-1979.

-Between 1978 and 1982, the Wesleke Type 116 was produced, with two cylinders giving 8 HP at 6,500 rpm.

-The Weslake type 200 that gave 12 HP at 6,500 rpm was manufactured until 1985.

NGL Type 274
“Type 274”

-The Weslake Type 274 was also the 18 HP NGL WAM-274 at the same revs of the previous ones. It was used in different VPNs.

-The Weslake 342, seen at the beginning of this chapter, was also the NGL WAM-342 and the NGL WAEL-342. It gave 38 HP at 8,000 rpm (26 HP at 6,000 rpm). It was manufactured between 1981 and 1988.

-The Weslake Type 430 gave 40 HP.

-The Type 548 had four cylinders and gave 36 hp. This was the same for the NGL WAM 684, which was a double 342.

-The Type 860 and Weslake Type 1527 had four cylinders and gave 100 HP at 5,500 rpm.

-By 1984, Emdair took over Weslake continuing the production of the Weslake engines, plus its own, (see both brands).

-So we have a much wider range of two-cylinder engines:

-The Weslake W42/55 (Emdair CF-077A) with direct transmission and the CF-077B variant with gearbox.

-The Emdair CF-092A and B, the same.
-The CF-100A and CF-112-A and B.
-The Weslake W65/75-118-02,
-The W65/80-118-02
-The W70 / 85-118-02.

-The Weslake CF-112/E that gave 85 HP at 3,300 rpm has been manufactured much longer, from 1995 to the present. It had direct drive, four valves per cylinder, fuel injection, dual ignition and Fadec. Alternator and electric PM.

-The Emdair CF-150A gives 110 HP at 3,400 rpm.

-A little known product is the low-cost turbojet, the NGL-600N, with 600 Newtons of thrust, equivalent to 118 lbf. It is intended for RPVs.

NGL-600N
“NGL-600N”

-It is based on mass-produced, basic diesel car turbochargers. To this "core" a diffuser and a combustion chamber are added.

-Hexadyne makes its P60 version based on these motors with gearbox. And Weslake has also collaborated in the development of DieselAir engines, (see).
