The Pierre Mengin Establishments built the Mengin engines since 1933. These engines were designed by René Poinsard and they were also known as Poinsard engines (see).

-There was the engine with 2 horizontally opposed cylinders that gave 25 CV at 2,280 rpm (28 CV at 2,500 rpm), and was offered with single and double ignition. It waw known as the B model. This same engine with gearbox reached 32 CV at 1,580 rpm for the propeller.

“Hochet 2B1”

-The first engine was the A that gave 35 CV. Later the Mengin Type C was the 2A.01 with 38 CV at 2,800 rpm.

-As from 1936 there was the engine that gave 40 hp at 2,300 rpm, and 54 CV at 2,550 rpm, limited takeoff power. It was designed by GMH, meaning Genete, Mengin and Hochet. As we see in the illustration of the 2B1, on the engine appear the letters GHM, instead of GMH as it has transcended in the publications.

“2Z”

-These engines were 4-stroke, two-cylinder engines.

-The 4A had four opposed cylinders giving 80 CV.

-The Z series we can see in a rear and front view, above and below.

-This is the ZA.02 with 30/35 CV.

“ZA.02”

-When the 2 or the 4 appears in front of the reference sometimes, it refers to the number of cylinders, example 2A, 2B, 4A. Followed by the version: 02, etc.
