DANSETTE - GILLET

(France)

DANSETTE - GILLET engine specifications

Motorcycle constructor that entered the field of aeronautics, first with a 4-cylinder engine that gave 50 CV at 1,400 rpm.

Dansette-Gillet, 4 cyl. - 50 CV
“4 cyl. - 50 CV”

-They built engines of up to 100 CV with six inline cylinders.

-In the shown picture we see a wheel behind the propellor coupling. It had a high-voltage magnet and the valves placed on the cylinder heads were concentric, activated separately by two rockers and two control rods.

-A camshaft. Gear lubrication pump and as we see, a updraft carburetor.

Dansette-Gillet 4-cylinder V
“Dansette-Gillet 4-cylinder V”

-The 100 CV 8-cylinder V engine was a descendant of the 4-cylinder V engine from 1910 that gave 60 CV.

-The Dansette-Gillet were used -among other cases- on the Astra airship "Le Temps" and on the Zodiac "Capitan Ferber" (90 CV engine).

-A four-cylinder like the one in the text is visible, restored and sectioned for greater understanding at the MAE engine reservoir, Paris.

From Appendix A1 / 6: The engines presented at the London Air Show in 1911, on Stand 19, had four cylinders and gave 32 CV and 45 CV.

-The Laviator was built by Dansette et Gillet.

From Appendix 7: Built in Suresnes (Seine), before WWI they offered the following models:
-80 CV and eight cylinders.
-110 CV and 6 cylinders.
-120 CV and 4 cylinders.
-120 CV and 8 cylinders.
-200 CV and 8 cylinders.
-250 CV and 6 cylinders.

-They built the Laviator models as well.

From Appendix 10: Through an advertisement of the brand in the early days, we find three new powers that are not indicated in the main text: 32 CV, 45 HP and 70 HP.
