In 1935 the Junkers Jumo IV Diesel engines of 500 hp were built under license by the Peugeot subsidiary CLM or "Compagnie Lilloise de Moteurs" in Lille, something like the current PSA.

-The 6-cylinder engine with two opposed pistons each (see Junkers) and the 2-stroke cycle assisted by a mechanical compressor, identical to the CLM-6AS.
-The compressor was necessary to fill the cylinders in height and to maintain the compression ratio necessary for the Diesel self-ignition.
-The "Lille 6AS" version of CLM used a Rateau compressor, which allowed it to reach 650 hp.
