These engines were built by AEADC (Aircraft Engines & Accessory Development Corp.) Pennsylvania. These engines came from the very interesting designer, R.W.A. Brewer. Around 1932 and 1935 he presented two interesting horizontally-opposed engines, which he called "Gryphoon" model M and N.
-There were two more upright engines and together with Pitcairn he initiated the development of a 9-cylinder radial, without knowing its result.
-The main feature of these engines was that the components or assemblies could be removed without doing it completely. Today we would call that modular construction.
“Brewer”
-The horizontally-opposed 8-cylinder "Gryphoon" delivered 150 hp at 2,000 rpm. This was the air-cooled "M" model from 1932 with dual ignition.
-The 12-cylinder "Gryphoon" "N" model gave 225 hp at 2,200 rpm.
-The N model was from the same year, but was liquid-cooled, unlike the former. From both engines no applications are known.
From Appendix 10: Front and side view images of the Gryphoon M engine, and also installed on an airplane but with the cylinders opposed vertically. It could work this way and also in the classic horizontal position.
“Brewer Gryphoon M” (PeT-Flu)
-The engine was from 1934, and It gave 155 CV.
