Alexis Vivinus founded Atelier Vivinus SA in Schaarbeek in 1899, and until 1912, it manufactured automobiles, motorcycles, and aircraft engines.

“Vivinus, 50 CV”
- It was later absorbed by the FAB (Belgian Automobile Factory) and later became Minerva.
- Between 1910 and 1912, Vivinus aircraft engines were manufactured.
- They had four vertical, upright cylinders and were water-cooled.
- Initially, the engine offered was 32.5 HP at 1,600 rpm.
- It was a lightened Vivinus car engine.
- There was an engine that gave 37.5 HP 1,600 rpm and a 39 HP engine, with each engine slightly increasing either the bore or the stroke.
-We have shown the 50 hp engine, whose main feature was its open-air reduction gear.
-The 57 hp engine was mounted on a Voisin triplane.
-The 50 hp engine has been seen on Farman airplanes.
From Appendix 7: The 60 and 80 hp Vivinus automobile engines were also adapted on airplanes such as the Piggott and the Sommer. They were vertical inline four-cylinder engines.
