Modification of a Volkswagen car engine, known as Type 1, carried out by Valley Engineering LLC.

There were two engines: the Valley 1915 cc, a four-cylinder engine offered from 1993 until 2016, when the company discontinued production; the Valley 2276 cc, the same as the previous engine but slightly more powerful at 3600 rpm, and therefore equipped with a triple-belt reduction gear from the same Valley engine.

From Appendix 6: Valley Engineering LLC adapted Volkswagen car engines for ULMs, such as the Stolch 701 shown below.

-We see the wide-toothed belt reduction gear. It has simple ignition. In the below photo, a small alternator is mounted high on the rear of the engine.

Note: The Stolch 701 aircraft model is actually the Stol Ch-701; we've found it written both ways in magazines on the subject.

From Appendix 10: Known for adapting Volkswagen engines for ULM and VLA aircraft, it has also adapted industrial Generac engines for the same purpose. These V2 engines produced 40 HP.
