Sometimes it appears as Saenger, due to the pronunciation of Sänger. The name of Professor Eugen Sänger is known by this surname.
-He is known for his ramjet engines tested on Luftwaffe aircraft.
The Austrian Eugen Sänger carried out tests with ramjets in 1941, both on ground vehicles and on Do-17 aircraft.

-Because it did not provide sufficient performance, the Do-17Z was changed by the new Do-217E, which we see with a larger Sänger ramjet.

-The tests were carried out in accordance with the DFS Flight Test Institute, or “Deutsche Forschungsinstitut für Segelflug”. Speed increases of up to 150 km/hr were recorded.

-But his most spectacular project was the rocket plane capable of bombing New York, the “Sänger America Bomber”.
-The design was done in collaboration with Irene Bredt.

-This device was made up of two parts, both powered by liquid fuel rocket engines.
-A booster of 600 ton of thrust to accelerate it along a long rail and the rocket plane itself, which had a main engine and two auxiliaries.

-Eugen collaborated after WWII with the Russians and French. He was president of the IAF in the 1950s. He died in 1964.
-The MBB conceived a ramjet in 1985, which they named Sänger.
