Sachs is known as a manufacturer of snow scooter engines.
-It has also built rotary Wankel engines, the 13B in particular.
“Sachs engine on Sirius 2”
-First, two-stroke engines were adapted to the ULMs, nominally rotating at 5,000 rpm.
-Of this type of engines, based on Mazda, the most common ones used in light aviation have been the following:
-Sachs SA-280, 16 CV.
-Sachs SA-290, 20 CV.
-Sachs SA-340, 23 CV.
-Sachs SA-370, 24 CV.
-Sachs A2440, 35 CV.
“Mazda 13B adaptation”
-The most common Wankel engines used were also:
-Sachs KM-29, prototype.
-Sachs KM-914, 20 CV.
-Sachs RC1-18, 20 CV.
“Sachs engine for the Sirius 2”
-The Sachs Wankel engine of the Sirius 2 motor glider in the photograph gives 20 HP.
-The Sachs Wankel KM-914 was mounted on the D-37 “Artemis” single-seaters. With a displacement of 300 cc, it gave 19 HP at 5,500 rpm, as well as 16 HP at 3,600 rpm. It weighed 25 kg.
