QuasiTurbine makes engines based on the Brayton cycle, that is, that of a turbojet, and has provided the following variants:

-QuasiTurbine Jet.
-QuasiTurbine-Fan.
-QuasiTurbine-Prop.
-QuasiTurbine-Fan Híbrido.

-The same company proposes up to ten possible variants of these air-cooled, multi-fuel engines.

-For the moment the model they present is the QT600 for use on ULM and they supply between 70 and 100 CV.

-The units can be coupled one after the other to achieve higher powers.

-QuasiTurbine Aviation Inc. describes the mentioned engine as “QuasiTurbine Rotative Motorisée par Combustion Continue ou Compresseur”.

-We have been able to locate several types of these engines or almost similar ones, such as the StarRotor, or those of several patents of which one of them we show in the following illustration.

-Remember that all of them work with the Brayton cycle (also known as Joule).

-This one in particular is known as “Quasi-Isothermal Brayton Cycle Engine”.

-Recently, in an exhibition in 2007 other models of these engines have been shown. It was indicated that at the same power, the size is 10 times smaller than a piston and about 6 times that of the Wankel engine.

-In the photograph, the largest is the QT5LSC with a volume of 5 liters. They are doing operational tests with pressurized air.

-The little one is the 600cc QT.6LSC.

-Both can work with an elastic and gaseous fluid such as steam, for example. The Quasiturbine are also known by "Qurbine" and it is an alternative to the turbine.

-It does not have any type of piston and uses a deformable rotor with hinged sides in a stationary casing, which provides compression and expansion.
