This is a "Gas Generator" type engine with free pistons, to drive a relatively small turbine.
-The pistons oscillated at 600 pulses per minute, and the burned gases were directed to a turbine to create useful rotation.
-The Argentine Raúl Pateras Pescara, Marquis of Pescara, was the manufacturer of Pescara cars in Barcelona, of a certain category and bearing his name.

-He also did interesting works such as the helicopters that bear his name, the Pescara 1, the 2 which made its flights in Barcelona and the #3 that was tested in Paris.
-The one tested in BCN had a 180 CV Hispano Suiza engine. It took place at the facilities and at the El Prat military airfield.
-For having contra-rotating rotors, it did not require an antitorque.

From Appendix 9: Spain / France. Raul Pateras Pescara made a free piston gas generator engine. We have a design diagram of this type that already includes the turbine. See also the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT-1.
“Free piston engine”
From Appendix 10: Returning to the Pescara free piston gas generator reported in the main text, we now have updates that increase its efficiency.
-The Pescara engine owed a large amount of exhaust gases that were directed to a turbine transforming them into rotation through a power shaft (PTO).
-The generator was a cylinder with two opposed pistons that compressed air in the center, and the diesel system injected fuel that burned automatically due to the compression heat.
-From a French literature we have a new detailed description of each component. The cycle was 2-stroke.

-The movement of the pistons towards the center has been modernly tested by means of magnetic coils.
