PBS engine specifications

PBS makes small auxiliary turbines to obtain air, electrical energy, hydraulics, etc. for engine starting, cabin conditioning, as APP on-board service and as APU ground equipment.

-This is the PBS-Velka Bites company. PBS previously gained experience when manufacturing MAN turbochargers.

-The LUN models (5362-8, 5363-8 and 5365-8) are for 33.5 HP, 19.5 HP and 29.5 HP respectively, also giving pressured air with a regulated temperature.

-Many PBS engines are used for starting in airplanes and others have been modified like the PBS Velka Bites for UAV presented in 2005. They are pure turbojets.

-The models used as turbojets are the 110 daN TJ-100A. They are used in UAV, UCAV, motor gliding and experimental aviation.

-The TJ-100C in the figure gives 100 daN at take-off, nominal for 30 minutes of 85 daN and 70 daN while cruising.

-While providing thrust, they also generate electrical energy for the carrier vehicle systems.

-Going back to PBS production, the Safir 5 was capable of delivering an air volume of 25 Kgs per minute.

-Curiously Safir's name also sometimes appears as Saphir and Saphire (depending on the translator, but in PBS brochures there are also differences).

-The -5C gave compressed air to start engines. From -5C the name is Safir.

-The -5F was for starting, electricity and hydraulics.

-The -5J was used for starter or air conditioning.

-The Safir 5K is a variant of the previous one with the same flow rate.

-The Safir 5M, in addition to supplying starting air to the engines, it can provide electrical and hydraulic power.

-All the small auxiliary engines built by PBS Velka Bites have been seen in the L-39, L-59, L-610, L-159 and in a short time more than 4,500 units have been built.

-Of course, PBS also makes the starter turbines for the air supplied by the previous auxiliary groups. They are the VS-40 and DV-2. They are mounted on the main engine.

-PBS Velka Bites continues to investigate and a new project has come to our hands, that of the Arrius PBS-55 of which there will undoubtedly be news soon.

From Appendix 6: The new TP-100 engine is another adaptation of a PBS brand auxiliary, adapted by PBS Velka Bites.

-Together with the provided the propeller cone it looks good.

-We found a recent engine application of this brand. Two 86 kW PBS turboshaft engines with FADEC controls and double ignition were installed side by side behind the Bongo helicopter cabin allowing it to fly up to 280 Km/hr., Max. 250 Km/hr and 230 Km/hr. economic cruising. Being able to ascend to 4,000 meters.

From Appendix 10: Now a new photo of the turboshaft that is based on the TJ-100 engine. It appeared in a recent catalog.

-Earlier, we showed a predecessor, still in production, such as the TJ-20A, the TJ-40 and a basic TJ-100.
