-The engines were jointly designed by PZL in Rzeszow, Hydral, and IL (Aviation Institute = Instytut Lotnictwa), in 1994. It is a derivative of the SO-3.

-This new engine is destined for the "Iryda" training plane.

-The 1991 PZL-10W is a turboshaft and is the twin version of the Russian Glushenkov TWD-10B turboprop.

-It is derived from the Russian GTD-3 (military designation) and originally intended for the Kamov Ka-25 helicopters. It was the 990 shp TWD-10B. that was produced in Rzeslow.
