Also known as "NPT" (see), installed in Coventry.

-NPT manufactured several small turbines for RPV and VLA, the main ones being the 301 and 401 of modular designs.

-The operation of the NPT began in 1972 with the NPT-101 that later became the 401.

-The 109 was later the 409. The 401A became the 251.

-But treating a little more in-depth production, the 301 delivered 45 kN and the 401A 332 lbf thrust.

-Reviewing the first turbines we have the NPT-151 in versions -1, -2, -3 and -4 for one-hour missions and expendable -disposable-, with 165 lbf of thrust.

-They are used in missiles, RPVs, Drones or Targets.

-From this brand we now have a turbine cutaway, showing its apparent simplicity.

-The ultra low cost NPT 171, is made for target vehicles and delivers 180 to 210 lbf of thrust according to variant.

-As all of them, they have a centrifugal compressor, an inverted combustion chamber and an axial turbine.

-The Noel Penny family of turbines of group 301 were short-life, but reusable.

-The 331 was a larger version of the 301, delivering 330 lbf of thrust. The NPT 401B was based on the 301-5 giving 400 lbf of thrust.

-In 1982, a 700 lbf turbofan was in development. for the CMC Leopard four-seater twinjet.

From Appendix 9: New contributions recently found on the internet from various sources.

-First a diagram of a so-called “100 series” motor.

-Important is the electric start-up in vertical position.

-Now we show a longitudinal cross-section of a 425 NPT that gives 445 N. It has inverted chambers, a centrifugal compressor and a centripetal turbine. It runs at 86,600 rpm weighing 9.5 Kg.

-Practically identical to the former one with some differences but with the same power, 445 N. Running at 85,700 rpm weighing 13.0 Kg.
