-It is an air-cooled, 3-cylinder radial in two versions: The ungeared MAE-323 and the geared MAE-323R. They are 4-stroke and the angle between cylinders is 120°.
“Modena engine design”
-The displacement is 2238 cc (or 136'6 cu. in.). All three connecting rods are connected to the crankshaft.
-There are two types of reduction, one with superimposed gear that has the output shaft raised with respect to the center of the engine as shown in the picture and the other with epicyclic gear that keeps the shafts at the same level.
-Curiously, the Modena Avio Engines factory, owned by the brothers Paolo and Alessandro Alessandrini, is located in an area of Italy of the highest technical level since in a small triangle there are Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini and Ducati.
From Appendix 11: According to information from Wikipedia, the company went out of business in 2015.
