-Emile Mayen was a car manufacturer who made the Hispano Suiza V-8 engine under license during WWI and in the war effort, along with several other brands (see Hispano Suiza).
-The one displayed is an authentic Mayen located in Australia at the Powerhouse Museum.
-It came to this country when it was installed on a Bristol F2B and it was disassembled and sold.
-Coming from the RAF, the engine was sold to the Air Disposal Company (ADC) which was a subsidiary of Handley-Page.
-After being sold to an Australian private individual, it ended up at the Qantas company and after outrageous changes of owners, its aviation license was discontinued.

-It delivered 300 HP, it went up to 312 HP at 1,800 rpm and 343 HP at 2,100 rpm.
-It is not geared, but it does have the intake manifold and a high carburetor. It is painted red.
