The Knox Motor Company made a 12-cylinder V engine, really nice for being a product from 1916.

-It had the cylinder blocks at an angle of 60° and gave 300 hp at 1,600 rpm. It was water cooled and had a total displacement of 1488.5 cu. in.

-In the cross section we see a deep oil pan and a long transmission for the grease pump. The cranks are certainly very long. If externally it does not seem of that time, internally it does: one of the proportions of the most exaggerated cranks and diameter of cylinders was 3 to 1, in this case it is exceeded.
From Appendix 10: The Fortney monoplane had an upright, inline, four-cylinder engine of the Knox brand that gave 60 hp, as we see in the photo below.
