Since 1997, JSB began adapting Subaru car engines

-The first attempt to use a 2.2 l Legacy engine could not be done for exceeding the ULM regulations.

-Finally it is decided to adapt the much lighter Subaru 71 and 81 engines.

-By displacement, the 71 has 1.6 l, and the simplest one is the 1.6l 1c, giving 93 hp at 5,600 rpm with a double carburetor.

-Another 71 was the 1.6l 1ct turbo giving 120 hp at 5,250 rpm.

-The 1.6l 1clt, was lighter than the one mentioned above.

-And from the 1.6l there was the DD1c model that gave only 63 hp at 3,300 rpm. It was based on the Subaru 71 engine.

-The 1.8l 4c is based on the Subaru SUB-4, giving 120 hp at 5,250 rpm.

-The JSB 1.8l engines were based on the Subaru 81. ​​They are the 1.8l 1ct and -1clt. Both gave 130 hp at 5,250 rpm.
