Manufacturer of aviation engine accessories, especially electric ones such as starters and generators. They also made two- and four-cylinder APU’s and APP’s, including an adapted six-cylinder car engine.
-There were some plans to build horizontally-opposed cylinder engines of 75/95 hp, but there is no evidence of their existence.
-They made their auxiliary power motors, as the one that is shown, known as Unit Series A2.
“Jack & Heintz, Auxiliary Unit”
-The engine has two horizontally opposed cylinders (the round head of one of them is towards us).
-It gave 30 hp at 6,000 rpm and generated up to 15 Kw at 30 volts at sea level and 10 Kw at 3,000 meters of altitude, (for unpressurized airplanes).
From Appendix 6: This well-known brand of electrical aviation accessories made an auxiliary power group or APP to be used in heavy US bombers shortly after WWII.
-They were built by Jack & Heintz Precision Industries Inc. but licensed by Skinner Motor where the design came from.
"The Jack & Heintz APP"
-These APPs were light and efficient. The weight was reduced by not using the classic valves but the Knight-type (see) sliding sleeve system. It displaced only 126 cubic inches and rotated at 7,000 rpm giving 95 hp. It was air cooled and had six horizontally opposed cylinders.
-Several accessories, generators, etc. can be seen on the right.
