The Jabiru Aircraft Pty. Ltd. is founded in 1988 and is located in Bundaberg West, Queensland.

-They make engines whose aluminum parts, cylinders and blocks are characterized by being fully machined, inside and out.

-These engines have horizontally-opposed cylinders.  A 4-cylinder version was made  between 1992 and 1996. This was the 1600 model that gave 60 hp.

-It was replaced by the “2200” model with the same number of cylinders but giving 80 hp at 3,300 rpm. It is being built from 1996 to the present.

-Then, the 3300 model came out with 6 cylinders, delivering 120 hp at 3,300 rpm. It is being manufactured from 1999 to the present.

-As can be seen in these engines, they have double ignition and the spark plugs show their porcelain in sight.

-The figures 1600, 2200 or 3300 of the models coincide with the cc of total displacement of each one of them.

-As we see, they are fully equipped engines, including an electric starter.

They have a double transistorized magneto, integrated AC generator, mechanical fuel pump and a Bing naturally-aspirated pressure-compensating carburetor.

-From the year 2002, eight-cylinder engines were made. First the 5100 cc that gave 170 hp at 3,000 rpm.

-Then they started to develop the 6000 cc (years 2001-03) but apparently it has gone no further than a prototype. It gave 180 hp at 2,700 rpm.

-In reality, the 180 hp is achieved intermittently at 3,000 rpm, and 170 hp at 2,700 rpm continuously.
