Hirz made a water-cooled, upright inline-four engine. It gave 40 CV at 1,400 rpm.

-As we can see the construction of the Hilz was very similar to the car engines of the time.

-There were two more developments, with four cylinders as well, the 50 CV shown in the photograph, and another one that gave 60 CV. And there also were two fan-shape engines.

From Appendix 7: In the main text, this brand is mentioned as a 40, 50 and 60 CV engine construction company. It made another one with less power, between 24 and 30 CV.

-Hilz Motorenfabrik was located in Dusseldorf. Around 1911-1913 it had two fan-type cylinder motors. (in the style of pioneer Anzani). Maybe they were built under license.

-They were the 25-30 CV with three cylinders, and the 50 CV with five cylinders.

The author of this edition of Aeroengines AtoZ, through Aeroteca, collaborated on Version 2 of this video, which is presented here.

To understand the operation of the connecting rods, the 1929 Continental R 670 single-cylinder engine was chosen.

A demonstration of Version 3, improved at the author's suggestion, is also available on YouTube at a later date. This version shows bronze valve guides, improved valve spring movement, and the split crankshaft counterweights and front bearing balls also move.
