We located a patent on a radial engine of which it is unknown if it has been built.

In the name of John S. Hasbrouck, S. Small Jr and Leslie C.

“‘Power egg’ and engine cross-section”

-As we see, this engine has a differentiating feature with respect to the others. The combustion chambers are called "hemispherical".

-But the position of the valves in the longitudinal advance direction of the engine makes the cam plate -generally with two tracks- divided with the intake track on the rear part and the exhaust on the front part of the engine .

Hasbrouck, two-speed supercharger
“Two-speed supercharger”

-Two hydraulic clutches (in the style of American automatic Powermatic type cars), make the supercharger work in High or Low speed.

From Appendix 12: The designer is related to United Aircraft Corp. that owns several engine patents and among them the radial that we bring here.

Patent drawing of the engine
“Patent drawing of the radial engine in cowling”

-Unlike the classic engines, in the following figure we see the abnormal valve actuation between the first and second cylinder row.

-The front cam plate operates the exhaust valves and the rear cam plate the intake valves.

-This is totally abnormal in this type of engines. And precisely because of this, when feeding the opposite rows, the inclination of the pushing rods is more pronounced.
