-The 85 hp Monarch V4 engine was an experimental, air-cooled, inverted V-engine. See Aero Engines Ltd and Douglas. Also as General Aircraft United.
-GAL -contracted the name of this chapter header- developed the Monarch, an inverted V4 that has been mentioned in Aero Engines Ltd but is now added for better memorization. It gave between 90 and 100 hp
“GAL, inverted V4”
-It was tested in 1935 on a DeHavilland DH-60G Moth aircraft. There was a GAL 4 and a GAL-5. These Monarchs were similar.

From Appendix 10: "General Aircraft Limited" is known as "General Aircraft United" at times.
“Photos and cross-sections for the GAL V” (PiP-Flu)
--The GAL-5 appears around 1935 and gave 100 hp. It was very similar to the GAL-4.
