(see Svenska Flygmotor AB and Volvo Flygmotor AB).

Svenska Flygmotor AB is known in most cases as "Flygmotor" although the correct name is the complete reference.

-The company was founded in 1930 as "Nohab Flygmotor Fabriken AB" building the Bristol Pegasus I as model "My VI".

-In 1941 the company was renamed "Svenska Flygmotor" being AB Volvo its largest shareholder.

-During WWII they made radial engines (see Volvo) from American interned aircraft that entered Swedish territory.

-The engine that is discussed is the Pratt & Whitney R-1830, version S1C3-G. The Twin Wasp.

Flygmotor STW-C3
"Flygmotor STW-C3"

-It also had 14 cylinders in two coupled rows of 7 cylinders, with gear and supercharger.

-The main text explains how this engine was made in Sweden.

-Hereafter the DH Ghost-45 was made for the Saab 29 aircraft.

-The Saab32A Lansen plane was powered by RM-5 engines, which was none other than the Rolls-Royce Avon RA.7R.

Flygmotor RM-6
"RM-6"

-It had an afterburner and was also mounted on the Draken, Saab-35A, B and C, a curious supersonic fighter aircraft with double delta wing.

-The Avon 300 series were manufactured as RM-6C for the Draken-35D, E and F.

-The RM-8 was a Pratt & Whitney JT8D-22 intended for the Viggen planes.

-The RM-8 had afterburner, variable nozzle, thrust reversers, and reached 12,000 Kgs (26,400 lbs.) of thrust with these heavy attachments.

-From the RM-8 there are the A and B versions.

Flygmotor RM-8
"RM-8"

-The RM-12 was the GE F-404 turbofan built under license for the Grippen aircraft.

-With GE it intervenes in the CF-6 engine for airline aircraft.

Flygmotor RM-12
"RM-12"

-With Garrett, Flygmotor developed the TFE-1042, the TFE-731-5 and the TPE-331 turboprop.

-Formerly in 1957 and in collaboration with the Bristol, ramjets were manufactured: the RRX-1, RR-2, etc.

Flygmotor VR-3
"VR-3"

-The VR-3 engine for liquid fuels used simple aviation gasoline and hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant -comburent-.

-It had controllable thrust with its maximum in the range of 4,800 lbf.

Flygmotor VR-35
"VR-35"

-The VR-35 with its fuels and oxidizers already preloaded for immediate use, used nitric acid and Hydyne as propellants, with the advantage of not leaving smoke or signs on its trajectory.

Hybrid-fuel rocket engine
"Hybrid-fuel rocket engine"

-As it is natural, like Onera, SEPR, GE, UTC, etc, Svenska Flygmotor has tested proposals for rocket engines of all kinds: solids, liquids and litergol hybrids, that is, liquid comburent (nitric acid fuming) and solid propellants with hypergolic properties such as the amines of the aromatic series - triethylamine or xylidine - but not with polymers.

-SFA Volvo is currently building the Ariane 4 engines, within the large European consortium.

From Appendix 6: See Svenska Flygmotor as well.

-The horizontally-opposed four-cylinder engine was presented at the 1941 Paris Air Show and was intended to be mounted on the Saab Saphir training aircraft. It delivered 140/150 CV of power.
