Earth Star Aircraft of Santa Margarita, CA. made an engine that was exhibited at Sun-N-Fun 2003.

-When he made his presentation he was in a state of R&D as we can see in the two photographs above, without exhaust and half finished.

-It is a two-stroke, eight-cylinder radial, model R-8600. It gives 60 HP at 2,700 rpm.

-We see that studies continue, the top photo with an exhaust manifold that gathers the gases from all the cylinders in its front part. At the rear you can see the carburetor and its filter.

-The lower photograph shows long exhaust pipes directed ostensibly backwards.

-To do this, the cylinders had to be "turned" 90° for such an arrangement to be possible.

-This engine was also called Rad Cam, from Radial Cam driven.

-As we can also see in the following illustration, the engine has been “baptized” with the name of “Beierle”, the surname of its designer Mark Beierle.

-Mark also is the founder and owner of Earth Star Aircraft.

From Appendix 11: Together with Thomas Senkel, Mark has developed an electric motor with a power of 20 kW. It is a 36-coil, 42-magnet, 16-pound disk-like motor that is fed by a 74-volt Rhino battery with 210 cells.

-There was a demonstration on the Electric eGull 2000 at the Arlington, Washington, Fly-in and at AirVenture in 2011.
