(See Bugatti). "Automobili Diatto SA" in Turin manufactured the 8-cylinder, inline Bugatti engine that gave 250 HP for aviation, by 1916.

-This engine gave rise to an engine with double parallel row, known as a "U" shape.

-In the shown front and partly side cross-sections we see the double ignition, long connecting rods and crank handle.

From Appendix 6: As a result of the collaboration with Ettore Bugatti at the beginning of WWI, the 8-cylinder inline car engine was built at the Diatto factory and soon it was adapted for aviation.

-Following the demands of the aeronautical industry, in September 1916, Mr. Diatto excitedly sends Ettore Bugatti a telegram: "Happy to announce excellent motor results. test finished brilliantly at 210 hp".

-Now we have a photograph of the opposite side without propeller.
