Deutz in itself is KHD or better, the Klockner-Humbolt-Deutz.

-The old Oberursel aircraft engine factory that built rotary engines during WWI passed into the hands of Deutz, and a little later the Klockner-Humbolt-Deutz (KHD).

-From this brand we know engines like the DZ series:

The 8-cylinder radial, 2-stroke, Diesel, model DZ-700.

-The 16-cylinder was a 2-stroke Diesel boxer, model DZ-710.

-The 32-cylinder, 2-stroke, Diesel H-engine, model DZ-720.

-After WWII they build industrial turbines, APUs and APPs.

-In 1957, there was shown an industrial engine for portable fire pumps, bilge pumps, etc. with a pumping capacity of 2500 l / min.

-The following turbines are built on the same base, it is the T series.

-In 1958 appear the industrial T-16 and T-216.

-In 1969, the T-212, turboshaft for the Do-32.

-And the T-312, which would be the APU for the Tornado.

-In 1975 the T-117, a pure turbojet engine.

-From 1978 is the T-317 turbojet that was mounted on the Caproni-22.

-The T-118 APU is from the year 1985.

-In 1990/1991, KHD collaborates with BMW and RR for the BR-700, BR-710, BR-715, etc.

-In 2004, KHD delivered the first Tay 611-8C to Gulfstream.

-It was a two-stroke radial Diesel engine.

APU for the Tornado

The author of this edition of Aeroengines AtoZ, through Aeroteca, collaborated on Version 2 of this video, which is presented here.

To understand the operation of the connecting rods, the 1929 Continental R 670 single-cylinder engine was chosen.

A demonstration of Version 3, improved at the author's suggestion, is also available on YouTube at a later date. This version shows bronze valve guides, improved valve spring movement, and the split crankshaft counterweights and front bearing balls also move.
