The "Dongan Engine Manufacturing Company" in Harbin, also known as HEF (Harbin Engine Factory), was created in 1948.

-The first engine they manufactured was the Russian Shvetsov Ash-82V which they renamed HS-7 (Huo-Sai-7).

-Around 1957-1959 some Ash-21 were built.

-In 1962, they built the HS-8 based on the HS-7 with supercharger and gear. It gave 1,850 hp.

DEMC WJ-5
"WJ-5"

-The WJ-5 (they received it from the ZEF factory to continue its development, around 1968), was a derivative of the Ivchenko AI-24A (today Ivchenko is ZMKB Progress). It gave 2550 hp.

-Derivatives such as WJ-5A, WJ-5A1, WJ-5A1G, WJ-5E were made.

-The WZ-5 was a turboshaft for helicopters and once it was developed, the production was transferred to ZARI.
