In 1878, Renard built a "Verniculaire" type steam engine designed for airships and tested it on a barrage balloon.

-In 1884, teamed up with Captain Krebs, he build a 8 hp multipolar electric motor. The motor rotated at 3600 rpm and by reduction gear, propeller did at 50 rpm.

-This was the first engine mounted on the "La France" airship and he made the first trip in a closed circuit. (See Renard et Krebs).

-In 1896, Colonel Renard imagined and conceived an "Adianómico" type engine. It was a 8-cylinder radial steam engine on a similar plane.

-For this engine Renard made many parts that later were commonly used in internal combustion engines: radial cylinders, master rods on the crank pin, receiving the secondary rod connection.

-The same steam entered the first cylinder, passed through the next ones, and left through the last one.

-It was installed on the "General Meusnier" airship. In the same year 1896 he also made another 6-cylinder radial engine and the following year another 3-cylinder one. Both were steam engines.

-In 1900, Charles Renard built a flash boiler group, a water-feed valve and an alternative steam engine.

-See Renard (fr). Not to be confused with Renard (Belgica)

-The group "was put under pressure" in a few minutes and its power output was 60 CV.
