"Carden Aero Engines" was founded in 1935 to build low-power engines for aircraft that were considered ultra-light at the time.
-In particular, the Ford-C car engine adaptation, which was mounted on the Mignet "Flying-flea" known as "Pou-du-Ciel".
-The Ford-C was a 10 hp engine but after several improvements it reached 30 hp at 2,200 rpm and 35 hp at 2,300 rpm.

-Sir John Carden manufactured tractors at the time but he died in an accident in 1935, and the Carden company was absorbed by Baynes whereafter they were known as Carden-Baynes, which later was acquired by Chilton Aircraft.
-Curiously in 1923, a 750 cc, two-stroke Carden engine with two upright cylinders was fitted on the Gloucester Gannet airplane. This engine was built by Sir John Carden before having his engine company.
