In 1901 Santos Dumont uses a Buchet on his airship nr 6, October 19, with winning the Deutsch de la Meurthe Prize starting from St. Cloud and returning after going around the Eiffel Tower in 29 minutes and 30 seconds .

-From this year is the single-cylinder, air-cooled 6 hp engine that was used in the Ferber airplane in 1903. And the German Jatho used it as well.

-The Buchet engine used in the first attempt to turn around the Eiffel Tower, and failed to do so with excess of time. It was the 4-cylinder, 16/20 hp engine on airship 5.

-As we see this engine was air cooled, the carburetors are cantilevered, rather separated from the engine.

-The first engine used by Almerico da Schio's airship "Italia" , was the air-cooled twin-cylinder below.

-From this engine they would begin producing the water-cooled version as the start of a range of 2, 4 and 6-cylinder engines.

-At the 1905 Paris Air Show they presented a V-8 of 25 CV and in 1908 another 8-cylinder fan-shape engine that gave 24 CV, in the style of REP and Farcot, with the cylinders grouped in three planes.

-Buchet made the Anzani 3-cylinder engine under license. It was done so accurately that sometimes it surprises to see the new brand name on the front of the block casting.

-At the head of a factory document we see the water-cooled, two-cylinder engine as a logo.

-The first water-cooled 4-cylinder engine, had separate cylinders.

-The range of engines to which we referred previously had the cylinders in groups of twos.

-With head valves on the C1 and side valves on the C2 these engines were known as the "C" series. They had a large range of output powers.

-Buchet also made an air-cooled 6-cylinder radial engine that gave 24 CV at 1,800 rpm.

From Appendix 10: In Germany there are made two replicas of the first two engines of this brand manufactured by E. Buchet in France in the early twentieth century.

-One is a 6 hp single-cylinder replica destined for karl jatho's airplane replica.

-This engine is manufactured by Walter Hirsch. We see that the cylinder fins do not reach the base, the crankcase.

-However another version -unknown by the author-  has fins to the base itself. It is for a plane variant also Karl Jatho's.

-Karl jatho was a German pioneer and it is said that he flew before the Wirght brothers in 1903, 3 months earlier. Today the Hannover Airport is called "karl jatho" in his memory.

-We recall that the French also claim the first flight to Ader and his steam machines. And so do other countries.

-The point is that the Wright brothers patented their device earlier, and when the moment arrived they announced it with great fanfare. They knew how to do it and have this glory of being the first to make a powered and controlled flight.

-K. Jatho put his device in "public domain" as is said now, within the reach of any amateur at that time. There is a phrase that round in his country "Sorry Mr. Wright ... wir waren die ersten !!. (Sorry Mr. Wright ... we were the first).

-Author's note. = Cylinders with fins to the base were also used by Buchet's 4-cylinder inline  engine (Airship 5).

- On the last visit to the MAE, information was obtained for the water-cooled 2-cylinder and the 50 CV 6-cylinder.
