Bet-Shemesh began operations in 1961 with capital of the Israeli government (49%) and French Turbomeca (51%).

-They started to build the Marboré VI for the CM-170 Super Magisters.

-They also manufacture the indigenous "Sorek-4" engine (Shorek-4, sometimes) that was presented at the 1983 Paris Air Show.

-Another Bet-Shemesh engine is the “Lavi-1120” intended to repower the Israeli F-16s that normally have PW- F-100s.

-The M2TL, M4TL (1340 SHP) and M5TL also appear as industrial turbines. Besides, they build parts for different engines of various brands.

-Bet-Shemesh is also a brand of prestigious precision casting of special metals.

-Bet-Shemesh Engines Ltd. initially known as BEL, is now identified as BSEL too.

-At another time, when it was named BEL, it was property of PW and Ormat Turbines.

-An outer Sorek-4 view (see also Sorek on the BEL page). 890 lb. of thrust at 35,000 rpm.
