In 1914 they copied the first Wright 40 hp engine, which they installed in a Wright airplane.

-It was the American George W. Beatty who came to the UK to give demonstrations with his airplane.

-Although he began his flights with the original Wright engines, he decided to build his own engines.

-These new engines were built at “The Beatty School of Flying Ltd,” near London.

-Later came the 50 hp from 1915, with 270 cubic inches of displacement and four water-cooled cylinders.
