(See A.O. Aviadvigatel and Perm-Aviadvigatel).
"Aviadvigatel - Logos"
-It started in the city of Perm by 1934, where they manufactured engines under the direction of Arkadi Dmitriyevich Shvetsov's Design Office (OKB), and when he died in 1953, he was succceeded by Pavel Aleksandrocich Soloviev. Both were memorable designers and by that time the company was already called Perm-Aviadvigatel.
-In the Shvetsov period there was the famous M-25 engine that delivered 715 CV, and was used on the Polikarpov I-15, in 1936. The M-25 was the Wright R-1820-F3.
"The first important Shvetsov engines"
-At the Interpretation Centre of Historical Memory in Spain that is located at La Sénia aerodrome (La Cenia) on the edge of the province of Tarragona close to the province of Castellon, they expose a replica of a Polikarpov I-16 "Fly" airplane at natural size.
"Polikarpov I-16, replica"
-The name "Mosca", which means "fly" (insect) in Spanish, is due to the fact that the plane's packages came with the word Mockba (Moscow) painted on it, and a Spanish wit interpreted it with this name.
-They were used by the government side's air force (La Gloriosa) giving excellent results, and they were only opposed by the Me-109 provided by the Condor Legion.
-In fact the Senia field was built by the Republicans and soon occupied by the Condor Legion, from where they fought the Ebro Battle, mainly.
-The Historical Memory deals with the most correct interpretation about what happened in the Spanish Civil War between 1936 and 1939 (and later).
-In a pejorative, -or derogatory- way on the rebel side, this airplane was called "Rat". Juan Abellan told me that they had given it that name because they flew low over the rooftops of Madrid and then suddenly ascended, like coming out of the sewers. Maybe that's true.
"M-62R, exhibited at La Sénia"
-The I-16 used the M-25 and M-25V in its variants including the turbo-supercharged TK-1.
-Later series of this aircraft used the more powerful M-62 and M-62V engines.

"Shvetsov engines"
"Shvetsov engines"
-Until the ASh-2K that gave 4,700 CV in 1949. And it is in 1953 when the company becomes “A.O. Aviadvigatel” under the direction of designer Soloviev.
-It is an Open Stock Company, which is a nomination that was given to various Russian companies after the political changes in 1989. and eventually it became just “Aviadvigatel”.
-It is also known by the name “Progress” during 1989-2002.
-Historically, the designed engines were built in the city of Perm by GAZ-19 (Statal Aviation Factory-19) and recently by “Perm-Aviadvigatel”.
-Shvetsov was well known for his collaboration with the designs for the M-11, -21, -62 y -82 in the Great Patriotic War (Name for the Russian part of WWII).
-Soloviev, his successor was related with the turbine area. First with the D-20 (successful was the D-20P) and its turboshaft version, the D-25V that delivered 5,340 CV to the shaft and perhaps was the most powerful helicopter engine in its time.
"D-20P"
-Lately, the Aviadvigatel engines are built as well in the Perm Engine Company as in the Rybinsk Motors Company.
"D-25V"
-These two engines themselves have accumulated more than 60 millions of flight hours since their introduction in 1957 until 2002. Even more powerful was the less known D-21-A1.
"D-30-3"
-By 1968 appeared the first D-30 with a poor “by-pass” ratio of 1:1. It had double shaft, very low reverse by-pass rate as we see and had no afterburner.
“D-30-F6”
-From this engine they derived multiple versions and more interesting applications.
-The D-30-F6 from the D-30 family and with afterburner was used in the MiG-31. It delivered around 23,000 lbs of dry thrust and 35,000 lbs. with afterburner.
"D-30-F6"
-The D-30-KP (from the IL-96T) and the D-30-KU were installed in airliners like IL-62M, Tu-154M, etc.
"D-30-KP"
-Subsequently in 1989, appears the PS-90A (90A-D sometimes), a turbofan that delivers 35,200 lbs of thrust with high bypass. It is 5 meters long and has a fan diameter of almost 2 meters. It is used on the IL-96, IL-76 and Tu-204.
"PS-90A"
"PS-90A, from te other side"
-There was a collaboration with Pratt & Whitney to improve the PS-90A, passing to the PS-90P.
-The D-100, D-110 and D-112 have been derived from this engine.
"PS-90A12 Cross section"
-They also manufactured the TV2-117AG, a gas turbine destined for helicopters.
-During many periods this company has been the main gearbox supplier for Russian helicopters.
-The PS-12 is the newest engine for the MS-21, medium and short range aircraft, and also for the freighter IL-214T.
"PS-12"
-This group is very important in manufacturing industrial high power generating equipment using aviation gas turbines.
-There are two important series: The commercially produced GTU and GTE.
-Normally they drive generators like the GTU-10P, with 10.3 Mw.
"GTU-10P"
-They built rocket engines such as the RD-214 and the D-253.
-Finally there is a program that contrasts, which is the Wankel type, rotary piston engine, based on the VAZ series designed at the Togliatti car factory, which builds the Fiat (Lada) near Moscow.
"D-200"
-The D-200 is a derivative of the VAZ-4305, a double-body, liquid cooled engine that gave 220 hp and was destined for the Mi-34V helicopter.
-The one showed in the picture drives the propeller through transmission gear.
From Appendix 10: From Aviadvigatel's website we have obtained information about the new PD engine family. These engines are bypass, two-shaft turbojets with an efficient noise suppression system.
They are the following engines:
-PD-14 (baseline engine) with 14 tf of thrust.
-PD-14A with 12,5 tf of thrust.
-PD-14M with 15.6 tf of thrust.
-PD-10 with 10.9 tf of thrust.
These engines are still being tested. (marzo 2016)
