In 1908, there were known three engines manufactured by the Ashmusen Manufacturing Co. of Providence, Rhode Island. They were designed by Henry W. Ashmusen. Other information situates the beginning of the factory in Omaha, Nebraska in 1917, being established in Rhode Island.
"Ashmusen de 12 cilindros"
-The first engine had 4 horizontally opposed cylinders and gave 25 hp. It was built in 1912.
-The second one with 8 cylinders, also horizontally opposed, gave 60 hp.
-The third one, is the one in the picture. With 12 cylinders, it reached 105 hp at 1,800 rpm. It had reduction gear for the propeller, which rotated at half the engine's speed, at 900 rpm.
-This engine was 42 inches long by 34 wide.
-It was mentioned in publications that they were "self-cooled" engines.
-Elsewhere it is said that the mixture passed through the cylinder fins before entering the cylinders.
-From appendix 6: The 12-cylinder horizontally opposed engine of this brand gave 105 hp.
-Some new illustrations are given below. First a photograph in which we can see details like the position of carburetors, very extreme and outside the engine itself.
"12-cylinder Ashmusen"
-The latter horizontally-opposed, 8-cylinder engine gave 60/70 hp.
-They had gear that reduced the rotation speed to approximately half the engine speed, with the propeller spinning at 1800 rpm max.
-They had a single magneto on top of the engine. It has a flywheel at the rear end of the crankshaft.
-We have some new views of this horizontally opposed 12-cylinder engine with gearbox.

-And below another illustration of the same engine with propeller on a test bench.
-The propeller blades seem to be of the scimitar type.

From appendix 10: All the engines that appear in the main text are 12-cylinder models. We have now achieved a 60 hp, horizontally-opposed, 8-cylinder, just as mentioned in the documentation where it comes from.
-Interestingly it has a device on top of the valve distribution, possibly at the camshaft, for reverse operation.
-Something similar already had the contemporary Antoinette engines, or at least some model like the 24 CV, for which we continue to look for details.
