AIXRO engines are manufactured in Germany and assembled in Italy. They are Wankel-type rotary engines and were originally designed to use in kart, but they have come to aviation too.
“Aixro XR-40”
From Appendix 6: AIXRO is specialized in Wankel rotary engines for the Go-Kart. its engines are also used in ULM and paramotors.
“AIXRO ultralight aircraft installation”
-A delicate point of the Wankel engine has always been the sealing of the rotary piston, subjected to a complicated application and its triangular shape. But that is happily resolved as we can see in this case and in Mazda, Sachs, NSU, etc.
“The rotary piston and its segments”
-The American XR-40 is the original AIXRO XR50 (go kart), but in the US it has been re-classified to 40 hp for aircraft. It is the same engine under another name.
“Aixro XR-50”
-(Caution: In American information this engine appears as AXIRO). It is a dyslexic mistake, because both engines are the same.
-In the case of Axiro that appears on the website of the EAA and the engine seen on Sun-n-Fun is not wearing the fairing that covers the Aixro XR-50.
-It is Wankel engine widely used in Go-Kart. A 4-stroke 40 hp rotary engine shown in the picture below.
“AIXRO XR-40 with gear”
-The gear and other details for use in ultralight aircraft has adapted by Phantom Aeronautics LLC at Kalamazoo, Michigan. It also has a generator and electric starter.
-The XR-20 is out of production, but we still have details of this engine.
-The XR-20 had a displacement of 125 cc and delivered 19.8 hp at 9,200 rpm. Its weight was 7.8 Kgs.

“Aixro XR-50 flyer”
-The XR-50 has a power of 31 kW at 7,800 rpm. And 33 kW at 8,750 rpm. The rpm limit is 10,300 rpm.
From appendix 9: They are Wankel rotary engines as already mentioned in the main text. We provide some more pictures as to keep the information up to date.
“Aixro mounting kit”
“Details of a single rotor”
From Appendix 10: Using the information from the manufacturer's website, we give the following updates.
-Currently (Oct. 2015) Aixro offers six main engines: the XP-40, XR-30, XR-50, RE-20-2 (Range Extender), XF40 and XH-40.
-The XP-40 is a Wankel engine that gives 35 hp at 6,500 rpm with a weight of 17 kg.
-Although this engine has been designed for paramotors it can also be used for ultralight aviation.
"AIXRO XP-40"
The XR-30 is a Wankel engine that gives 29 hp at 8,750 rpm with a weight of 18.3 kg. This engine is water-cooled and has a digital ignition system.
This engine can be used for ultralight aviation and drones.
"AIXRO XR-30"
-The RE20-2 is a joint development of ENGIRO and AIXRO.
-It is a Wankel engine that gives 20 hp at 5,000 rpm with a total weight of 32 kg. This engine is water-cooled and has a dual ignition system.
-It has a generator on the same shaft. The engine's weight is 16 kg and the generator's is 16 kg as well.
-This engine can be used for ultralight aviation and drones.
"AIXRO Range Extender RE 20-2"
-The XF-40 is a Wankel engine that gives 35 hp at 6,500 rpm with a weight of 18,7 kg.
-This engine can be used for ultralight aviation and drones.
"AIXRO XF-40"
-The XH-40 is a Wankel engine that gives 35 hp at 6,500 rpm with a weight of 19,5 kg.
-The XH-40 has been designed for helicopters but it can also be used for ultralight aviation and drones.
"AIXRO XH-40"
-The XR-50 is a Wankel engine that gives 44 hp at 8,750 rpm with a weight of 17 kg. This engine is water-cooled and has a digital ignition system.
-The XR-50 can be used for ultralight aviation and drones.
