Agusta-MV we actually knew for their famous motorcycles whose 125 and 250 cc models have been world champions. (MV means “Meccanica Veghera Spa.”).

-The company was founded in 1907 by Count G. Agusta. In 1945 his sons continued.

-The Giovanni Agusta brand is also known for the manufacture of Bell helicopters under license. (Since 1952).

-But between 1950 and 1960, Agusta started to manufacture its own aircraft engines.

-For example, for small light aircraft they built the air-cooled GA-40 engine giving 42 hp with two horizontally opposed cylinders.

-The designs of these aircraft engines were due to M. Ginnini, such as the GA-140 V giving 138 hp at 3,200 rpm with a vertical crankshaft. This engine had dual ignition like the previous engines and they were built between 1962 and 1969.

-For the A-104 helicopter. By 2001 Agusta joined Westland from the UK to form the company Agusta-Westland.
