TURBODYNE
(USA)
See Northrop-Hendy Turbodyne.
The prototype of this engine rolled out in 1941, making it the first US turboprop. It was mounted on a Northrop and known as the Northrop-Hendy.
From Appendix A1/6: This is the proper name for the large turbine that Northrop-Hendy made for Northrop's own bomber, the Flying Wing, the B-35, which used turboprop engines.
"Turbodyne Engine Compressor"
-Eventually, the engine was adapted for naval, stationary, and locomotive use, using all types of fuel, including powdered coal.
