Nikola Tesla, inventor of several engines, including the recently discovered turbine engine that rotates with steam or compressed air.
"Nikola Tesla"
“Tesla turbine demonstrator”
-Touted as a highly efficient turbine engine, he failed to prove it because he calculated it at 96% efficiency, when we know that steam yields very little (15%) of the energy power it consumes, when it comes to external combustion machines.
-Initially intended for use as a drive for AC or DC generators, its aeronautical use was not ruled out.
“Drawing presented at the US Patent Office”
-The main text also mentions a valveless pulse jet attributed to Nikola Tesla.
-Nikola's ingenuity is responsible for many other inventions that are the fruit of his privileged talent.
“Nikola Tesla, years later”
-Tesla was born in Croatia and was primarily an electrical engineer. He came to the United States in 1884. It is estimated that he has about 700 inventions on his name.
“Another of his patents”
From Appendix 6: Now we have an illustration of the complete turbine that Nikola Tesla made as one of his experiments. The one shown below is the one that appears in the main text and it is apparently incomplete.
“Tesla's disclosed turbine”
“The complete Tesla turbine”
-As we can see, it is full of instrumentation to analyze the parameters at each point of the machine. It works with Tesla's theory of taking advantage of the properties of fluids such as viscosity and adhesion. Which indicates that it is not an ordinary turbine.
-The operating principle of this efficient turbine was the one applied on the airplane invented by him and of which we have the patent.
-It is a vertical and horizontal takeoff aircraft. It does not use the same system as the current “Tilt rotor” like those of the Bell (Bell-Boeing).
-The engine does not rotate with a large propeller, it is the aircraft itself, its complete structure that takes off vertically or horizontally.
“From the Tesla Aircraft Patent”
"Tesla's Patent Drawings"
-The aircraft used the turbines shown in the patent, specifically two, shown on the previous page.
-But Nikola's talent and ingenuity went much further. He designed vehicles and engines with very advanced concepts. Some of the principles have been studied and developed lately and may soon be common.
-They would be known as “Magneto-hydrodynamic” like the one installed on his “flying saucer” project.
Ideas from the beginning of the 20th century, around 1919.
Editor's note. Compare it with the “Ulinski” ship (see).
“The idea of the flying saucer being realized”
“Magnetohydrodynamic propulsion”
-Or as inconceivable as the propulsion of the “Electro-gravitic Airship”
“Tesla's electrogravitic ship”
-But there is more. The propulsion transmitted by the ether without mechanical means such as cables, etc. is “Radio Power”
-The idea of transmitting energy without cables is well known. This idea was started by him to develop this way of supplying all homes with energy without control and this was the “Auiles heel” of his invention. JP Morgan acquired the idea but to destroy it and not harm his electricity supply business.
-It was the famous “Wandercliffe Tower”, which was immediately destroyed by the new owner.
“The ephemeral Tesla Tower”
-Moreover, this wireless energy transmission was intended for the propulsion of ships.
“Idea of energy propagation to aircraft”
-However, his most enduring idea is the use of alternative electric current (AC) in preference to direct current (DC), for domestic and industrial uses.
-His great enemy was Edison, who took fame and fortune by boycotting or copying Tesla's inventions with bad arts, who ended his days in poverty.
Note: A pulsejet appears under the name of this inventor. Perhaps it is not his contemporary or perhaps later. Perhaps it is Tesla's invention or it is the invention of an unknown person who uses his name as a tribute.
-It is mentioned like this: Nikola Tesla is the inventor of a new pulse jet without mechanical valves and with a labyrinthine inlet.
-In fact, these are “aerodynamic valves”. The results of the tests are not known.
