In Spain, we first came to know the Villiers brand, or rather Hispano-Villiers (they should see the remains of Hipano-Suiza and the Harry-Walker company of Barcelona) for the manufacture of motorcycle and motorized vehicle engines, especially the famous Biscuter, in the 1950s and 1960s.

The 1951 Mk9AB engine was only 350 cc, and one is on display at the Science Museum in London.

But in 1936, designer Amherst Villiers made an aircraft engine model similar to those of the era, with four inverted, air-cooled cylinders.

The engine was named "Maya I" and was the 4-L-318 model. The compression ratio was 5.5 to 1 and the power output was 130 HP.
