SWB Turbines is a manufacturer of small turbines, initially for aero-models, of low power and later with applications in UAV, cruise missiles, even lately a turboprop for general aviation.
-For modeling, it began with the commercialization of the SWB-3. Now in production is the SWB-11 Mamba.
“The Mamba”
-The thrust of the Mamba is 11 lbf but its rotation is between 60,000 to 150,000 rpm.
“SWB-25, SWB-35 and SWB-45”
-The interesting thing about the SWB-65 is its mounting on cruise missiles of a US Navy program.
“SWB-65”
“Cruise missile with SWB-65”
-The 100 lbf thrust engine is the SWB-100, which actually gives 107 lbf. It is designed for UAV applications.
“The SWB-100”
-SWB Turbines announces a new generation of NG (Next Generation) engines.
-To finish this chapter, a 100 HP (99’6 HP) general aviation turboprop is being tested,
“SWB Turboprop”
-Rotating the turbine at 58,000 rpm, the propeller does so at 4,000 rpm, for a three-bladed Vess.
“SWB turboprop schematic drawing”
-Looking at the schematic drawing, we see that it is a small turbojet whose exhaust jet goes to an epicyclic turbine-reducer group.
