John Stringfellow was an aviation pioneer. He built the steam engine used on Henson's machines.
-He also made his own airplane designs, such as the triplane powered by the below engine.

-Another Stringfellow engine with a much smaller alternative engine is the one that has reached us for insertion. According to references, it seems that this was the model that won the £100 prize from the Aeronautical Society in 1868.

From Appendix 6: This English pioneer flew a model airplane with a steam engine (see) in 1848. Many models of this airplane have been made, including the engine.
-In the photo found in a Flight publication we see the engine, which is said to be the original and which is deposited in the Royal Aeronautical Society of London.
