SNPE stands for “Socièté Nationale de Poudres et Explosifs”, which is the recent name of the “Poudrerie Nationale”, founded in 1679.
-In one of its aspects, it builds solid-fuel rocket engines such as Plastolite/Plastolane, used in the Marie-Antoinette, Venus, Epervier, Mammouth, Stromboli, Acra, Entac, Mk43, CT-20 of Arsenal, Condor, Helios and many more.
-It collaborates with Hotchkiss / Brandt and Thomson / Brandt to manufacture the engines for the Angele, the Magic, etc.
-SNPE was, or is in Europe, the most important manufacturer of solid fuel rocket engines, especially for using exotic fuels not common in other manufacturers.
-To the Plastoline and Plastolate mentioned above we can add smokeless solid fuel or with high specific thrust, with combustion speeds varying from 5 meters per second to more than 40 meters per second.
-For example, those with a double base, were casted, laminated or pressed, such as those used by the Rubaix engine of the Roland missile. The Bugeat engine of the Hot. The one with the PRPA mortar. The Valras of the Milan guided projectile.
-The ACL Cavaillon engine. The 100 mm Thomson/Brandt Thonon, or the 68, which had the Etoile engine. The Lens of the Crotale or the Amou of the BAZ 100 mm.

-The Nitramite propellant was also double-based and was used by the following engines: the Anubis, Bias, Helios of the Exocet AM39, the Aither of the Exocet MM40.
-Isolane (Isorgol) is a polyurethane compound, used by Madeleine, Venus, Polka and some SSBS and Pluto engines.
-Butalane fuel is a compound of HTPB and CTPB used in some Matra missiles with the Angele engine, or the Richard engine, or the Gerfaut on the MM40 Exocet. Also the Alain engine on the M4 that could be launched from submerged submarines.
-Butalite fuel, derived from Butalane, was for the Cosson engine used on the Thomson/Brandt, Patricia, and also for the Nanesse engine, and the Narwhal on the Exocet SM39.
